International meeting place for the energy industry
Transition will be the main theme of ONS 2016
05.07.2016 – ONS (Offshore Northern Seas) in Stavanger, Norway, has for more than 40 years been an international meeting place for the energy industry. It is an exhibition, a conference and a festival – all in one. At ONS 2014 over 90 000 participated and they experienced four days of networking, business opportunities and social gatherings. From 28. August until 1. September 2016 the event once more will attract high-level executives and politicians as well as specialists and young professionals from all over the world. The exhibition gives direct access to the most interesting companies in the offshore and overall energy industry.
ONS 2016 has extended its conference program with “Technical Sessions”. Here experts update on the industry’s latest innovations and technical solutions. The theme “Transition” will set the scene for the conference. “The purpose of the theme of transition is to bring about a useful debate on the transition to a new normal situation in the industry,” says Leif Johan Sevland, CEO of ONS. In 2014, “Changes” was the ONS theme. The many changes facing the industry were discussed at the conference. The theme of transition takes the debate further. Adjusting to a new market situation with lower profit margins is an important part of the transition. Advanced technology needs to bo developed and challenging petroleum resources have to be produced at lower cost. Transition is also about an evolution from an oil and gas world to a low-carbon reality.
