From 30 May to 2 June, some 2500 companies display their technologies for the factories and energy systems of the future at the Hannover Exhibition Center. Under the lead theme of „Industrial Transformation”, they demonstrate how connected production facilities can operate more efficiently and conserve resources as well as how to generate and transmit energy sustainably. „Due to the global crisis mode caused by the Ukraine war, pandemic and climate change, by disrupted supply chains and rising energy prices, the topics of the Hannover Messe are relevant as never before. In this field of tension between security of supply and climate change, solutions must be found quickly. At the heart of the matter is how we can ensure security of supply and growth in a dynamically changing world – politically, environmentally and economically – while counteracting climate change. Innovative technologies will play a key role in this“, Dr. Jochen Köckler, Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Messe AG emphasises. Hannover Messe 2022 offers precisely the right platform for this.

Renewable energies and green hydrogen will be big topics at this year’s Hannover Messe. Many companies are already leading the way with concrete solutions. For example, a hydrogen cycle is being created in the Industry 4.0 lead plant of exhibitor Bosch. This produces green hydrogen that is used for industrial processes. In total, more than 200 companies will present solutions for a sustainable energy supply using hydrogen from renewable energies.

„The second major theme, networking in the factory, is something we are continuing this year,“ said Köckler. In his opinion, only through advancing automation and digitalization can the goal of producing in a more resource-conserving and energy-efficient way and thus becoming climate-neutral be achieved. Recording the CO2 footprint across entire supply chains is often the first step toward climate neutrality. As an example of this, Köckler cites software from Siemens that records emissions data along the supply chain and combines it with that from the company’s own value creation to create a real CO2 footprint of a product.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Portugal’s Prime Minister António Costa will jointly open Hannover Messe. This year, Portugal is the partner country of the world’s most important industrial fair. More than 120 companies from the partner country Portugal have registered for the. Under the motto „Portugal Makes Sense,“ they will showcase their products and solutions for digital transformation, the energy transition and reliable supply chains.

In addition to the trade fair presentations, visitors can expect a high-caliber supporting program. The four conference stages will address topics such as automation, cloud and infrastructure, analytics and data management, digital platforms, robotics, IT security, artificial intelligence, renewable energies, green hydrogen, energy-efficient and CO2-neutral production, digital energy management, circular economy and much more. The complete program will not only be available to experience on site, but will also be streamed simultaneously via the Hannover Messe website.
