The Turbulizer is a continuous mixer for general liquids into solids dispersion applications. However, the Turbulizer can also be used for coating of fine powders using a solid coating agent, without the need for pre-melting of the coating agent. The high intensity mixing process combined with a heating jacket means the coating agent melts during the process in order to produce perfectly coated end material. With adjustable paddles located on a central rotor shaft in a single or double helical pattern, the high speed horizontal paddle mixer is compact in design, taking up minimal headroom which means it is easy to place in restricted space production areas.
The speed of the rotor and the angle/design of the paddle blades determine the intensity of mixing and residence time which is generally just a few seconds. Tip speeds are in the region of 3 to 70 m/s and the units can be fitted with a heating or cooling jacket, whose heat transfer is very effective, because the mixing is taking place in a very turbulent region at the paddle tip/vessel wall.
