Aqu@sense MB from BWT monitors microbiological quality in pharmaceutical water systems. The use of these alternative rapid microbiological methods is assisted by USP 1223 and EP 5.1.6 and supported by the Online Water Bioburden Analyzer (OWBA) Workgroup, formed by leading pharmaceutical companies. Compared with conventional microbial counts, Aqu@sense MB reduces the per-sample labour costs. The results are also produced very quickly, enabling a rapid response. The increased number of samples reduces the potential for errors and standard deviation. The Aqu@sense MB can differentiate between living and dead bacteria and also measures non-cultivable bacteria.

The reliable solution it provides is based on the method of flow cytometry, which is specifically adapted to the requirements of critical utilities. This compact, ready-to-connect, user-friendly analyser is suitable both for continuous online use in processing for example on a Loopo, where it controls the tank feed from the generator and the return feed from the distribution system, and for manual sampling.
