Maxflow from GKD combines the complete filtration process in a single unit – from the feed of the contaminated fluid through the filtration process itself to the production of clean filtrate and disposal of the residue in the form of briquettes. The filter unit consists of a stainless steel body containing up to eight vertically arranged disc filters. The fluid requiring filtration is passed laterally over statically installed discs and filtered by cross-flow filtration. This is where YMAX, the multidimensional stainless steel blended mesh made of mono- and multifilament fibres, comes into play. The huge range of different YMAX types with pore widths from 5 up to 100 µm allows the blended mesh to be individually adapted for the particular medium to be filtered. Thanks to this process-specific media in combination with the cross-flow method, the use of additional filter aids is seldom required. Fully automatic backwashing by means of a pneumatic pulse in combination with filtrate or with other fluids and gases reliably detaches the filter cake, accumulating on the disc filters, from the smooth surface of the filter media. Where appropriate, the residue is then pressed into briquettes by a piston device in the integrated compression chamber.
