The single-stage Aerzen VMW-water stages compressing up to 13 bar have already been tested at rough continuous operation under practice conditions. Besides an improved efficiency, they offer a reduced maintenance expenditure and are available for drive capacities of 45 up to 75 kW as well as of 90 up to 110 kW and for the following max. intake volume flows of the VMW 75 from 2.3 to 12.3 m³/min and the VMW 110 from 4.3 to 19.5 m³/min, depending on the pressure (7, 10 or 13 bar).
The VMW-water stages have been designed exclusively for the direct drive. They work with speeds of only 1500 to 5000 rpm and can be completed to units with constant speed as well as to units depending on the requirements. Based on the long-time experiences regarding production of oil-injected compressor stages with rotors made of steel, Aerzener Maschinenfabrik has selected this material also for the VMW-water stages. The high-alloy, non-corrosive steel works also at higher pressures up to 13 bar resistant to defor-mation. Oil-lubricated roller bearings for the water stages lead, in connection with a special lubricant, to a permanent lubrication during the life time cycle of the compressor stage. An atmospheric gap between bearings and compression room protects the oil chamber reliably from water penetration or from oil entering the water room.
