Soft starter with extended integrated bypass
The MCD 500 from Danfoss provides an integrated bypass to allow DOL operation as an alternative. The bypass range extends additionally from 245 to 961 A in two new G3 and G4 enclosures. The integrated bypass provides the opportunity to switch over to direct-on-line operation, after initial start-up via the soft starter. By running partially direct-on-line, the user wins the advantages of reduced losses and need for heat dissipation, thus saving energy due to decreased cooling requirements. Installation is fast – with only six terminals instead of 12. What is more, the MCD 500 with integrated bypass takes up less panel space than a soft starter with an external contactor – and no extra equipment is required.
