With the interface module cartridge (IMC) family, Turck has taken an innovative path in process automation: The explosion hazard separation level is taken out of the control cabinet and moved directly to the field device level to satisfy the requirements of increasing decentralization of the equipment structure. The compact and rugged equipment family opens up new possibilities and perspectives. Even in unfavourable ambient conditions, the vibration-resistant connectors ensure reliable connection. In addition to galvanic separation, the units provide intrinsically safe protection for explosion-hazard areas. Approval in category 3 GD allows on-site use, e.g. use in zone 2, explosion hazard resulting from combustible dusts or gases.
