Summer in Frankfurt is more than ACHEMA show. The Main metropolis offers a whole host of exciting entertainment, lovely places to be, and and lots of bars, restaurants an cafes. Here you can find some tips.

View from the Main Tower

The Main Tower observation deck is open to visitors until 9 p.m. form Sunday to Thursday ans until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Frankfurt time travel

The new time travel attraction Timeride Frankfurt is located opposite St Paul’s Church. With virtual reality and multi-sensory presentations, you can discover the turbulent history of the city on the River Main in a completely new way. Thanks to virtual reality and detailed backdrops, you become a contemporary witness yourself: for example, you can experience the beginning of electrification on a virtual visit to the legendary Electrotechnical Exhibition of 1891.

Candlelight Spring

The unique live music experience Candlelight transforms the most diverse locations in Frankfurt into breathtaking concert venues. At 14th of June 2024 there will be music of Hans Zimmer at the Logenhaus zur Einigkeit. Get your tickets and experience the music of Hans Zimmer surrounded by a sea of flowers to celebrate spring!

Alte Oper Frankfurt

Behind the historic façade of the former Frankfurt Opera House lies a lively concert and congress centre which, despite its versatility, has a clear artistic profile. On 13 June 2024, for example, the HR Symphony Orchestra will perform “Das Lied von der Erde” – a late work by Mahler that is half song cycle and half symphony.

Zoo Frankfurt

Frankfurt Zoo is a green oasis in the centre of Main metropolis and home to more than 5,000 animals from over 450 species. Here you will find the proud animals of Africa next to lively seals and majestic lions in the neighbourhood of cheeky dwarf goblins. In the Grzimekhaus, day turns into night and you can immerse yourself in the mysterious animal world of Madagascar. Snakes, crocodiles, colourful fish and frogs romp around in the exotarium, and in the Borgori forest you can meet great apes in a real jungle atmosphere.

Palmengarten

Over 150 years old and still a magnet for the public: The Palmengarten in the heart of the city Frankfurt. In the early years of the garden exotic plants – first and foremost, of course, its namesake, the palm trees – attracted visitors, today it is a variety of motifs: Enjoy the lush greenery, stroll among the flowering beds stroll around, relax and unwind. The Palmengarten also provides a diverse cultural and event program.

Museumsufer

If there is some time left, Frankfurt’s Museumsufer is a must. It’s a wonderful place to stroll along the banks of the Main and the museums are lined up with their exhibitions:

  • From medieval times to the present: the Städel Museum’s permanent exhibition takes you on a journey through more than 700 years of art. On more than 15,000 square metres of exhibition space you can take inspiration from paintings and sculptures, photographs, drawings and prints.
  • Everything is film at the Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum Frankfurt. On two floors and around 800 square metres, the permanent exhibition presents exciting exhibits, operable models of historical equipment and interactive stations. Large film projections invite you to explore the moving image and experience the fascination of film as a medium.

Museum of Modern Electronic Music

Right in the heart of Frankfurt, the „MOMEM – Museum of Modern Electronic Music“ opened its doors. A revolutionary new museum and exhibition concept allows visitors to immerse themselves fully in the history and development of electronic music. The new museum’s initiators propose to show the development of electronic music in all its facets and influences in a way suited to visitors of all ages.

Senckenberg Museum

The permanent exhibition in this large natural history museum is already impressive. New additions are the themed rooms “Nature + Medicine” and “Coral Reef“. Visitors can also experience the special exhibition “Forests – From the Romantic to the Future”. The forest as a home to biodiversity; a romantic utopia for mankind; an object and subject of the arts and natural science: all this is on display in the exhibition.
