Herding has made the filter units safer with regard to the risks of fire and explosion by adding two protective functions. On the one hand side, the applied sinter-plate filter elements themself have become flame-resistant (Flamestop). In case of a fire or dust explosion within the filter unit, neither flame nor smoke occur with the clean-gas-side pressure relief. The second feature is named Flamebreak and was developed according to ISO 19353. The concept includes the secure fire detection by means of a detection cable, the integrated control including signal processing as well as active firefighting using extinguishing aerosol. This concept is suitable for fire classes A, B, and C and has already been accepted after consultation with relevant property insurers.
