Within sterile process engineering applications the design of pressure and temperature measuring instruments is particularly important. The wetted parts must be manufactured from high-quality, austenitic stainless steels, while the design of the sensors used must comply with the standards and directives of the relevant approval authorities, such as EHEDG, 3A, FDA and NSF. The clean ability of the measuring instruments is also important, and to ensure that no product residues are trapped within them, they must be self-draining. Furthermore, the quality of surface-finish on the instruments must meet specific requirements. An overview of sterile process engineering requirements and suitable measuring instruments can be found in the fully-revised Wika brochure “Pressure and temperature measurement for hygienic applications“.
