The U-SMPS from Palas measures continuously and time resolved particle size distributions of nanoparticles. The device consists of the condensation particle counter UF-CPC or the reference aerosol electrometer Charme, and of a size classifier (DEMC/DMA). The size classifier enables a fast, continuous and high-resolved classification of the aerosol according to its particle size. The classifying sizes range within the total size range (3 nm to 1.2 µm) and the number of the size classes (e. g. 64/decade) can be selected freely. The U-SMPS is operated through a graphical user interface on a large touchscreen. The evaluation software provides data evaluation and various export possibilities. The U-SMPS is typically operated stand-alone but can also be connected to a computer or network by several interfaces.
