The intrinsically safe (Ex-i) input and output isolators round off the functions of the Hart communication-oriented Process Interface product series from Phoenix Contact. The PI-Ex-AIS-I/I input isolator transfers intrinsically safe 4 mA to 20 mA signals from transducers that are installed in the Ex area and which are fed from external sources, to a load in the safe area. The PI-Ex-IDS-I/I output isolator is designed for the operation of intrinsically safe I/P transducers, control valves and displays installed in the Ex area.
