Drying with the thin film technology
For drying of sludges, pastes, filter cakes and wet powders as well as for heating, cooling and melting, the thin film technology can be considered in many cases as the technology of choice. The material to be dried is conveyed steadily by the rotor elements along the heated dryer wall of the thin film dryer. The contact with the indirectly heated wall allows an optimum heat transfer, whether the process takes place under atmospheric conditions or under vacuum. Thanks to the fully enclosed design also carcinogenic or toxic products can be dried. Moreover, thin film drying has, compared to convection drying, the following advantages: Higher energy efficiency, no costly exhaust processing and smaller construction volume. In order to determine the process parameters which are decisive for the contact drying, trials are recommended.
